Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was promoted to Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was a member of an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
